About Me:
When looking into the most real and responsible way of understanding and living life in the 21st century I must say that I have been feeling Levinas lately — he calls for a moral obligation that ultimately takes philosophy out of metaphysical systemizations and conceptual analytical frameworks and instead daringly investigates the actual lived experience and our fundamental motivations. To what capacity can we actually embody a source of strength that is only found outside and beyond the dismal sphere of self-interest?
In this inquiry into what is of actual importance – a recurrent theme is revealed in the challenge of meeting others in a completely new way, in a much higher context.
“There can be no free interchange without something to give. Responsible communication depends on an initial act of generosity, a giving of my world to him with all its dubious assumptions and arbitrary features. They are then exposed to the questions of the other, and an escape from egotism becomes possible.”
“And yet it is the expression of a desire, as Levinas calls it, for that which transcends me and my self-centered categories. This desire is never satisified, but it seems insatiable, and feeds on itself.”
mmmmmm. yes - and beyond this fascinating field of discovering new and deeper modes of meeting eachother - I must diverge to question what is the fundamental way of being Victorious - when it comes to transcending, overcoming, being free from the suffocating atmosphere of incessant self concern? The million dollar question.
This level of freedom is ultimately what constitutes the heart of what I am passionate about; I am convinced of the essential role of this relationship to life - a liberated (from ego) one - to be the only sane foundation for the type of change we are all here at Zaadz to initiate, activate, and actualize.
So back to the means: one vital element I have been exploring is the virtue of 'surrender'… good ol' virtues :0)
